"My my, such a charmer." The comment was light and teasing, and Madison managed again to keep pace with him as he worked his way through the shop and around all the displays. It was obvious he did this all the time, and she could honestly say that didn't surprise her in the least. Rarely one to frequent this particular shop during rare family visits to the village, she glanced around as they went, taking in all the many different products.
Brought back to reality when she realized he was asking something, she pulled her eyes away from a particularly tall display rack for Hiccup Sweets - trick your friends and enemies and watch them jump as if seized! - and looked at him. "Hm? Oh..no, no thank you. I'll have to admit that I wouldn't quite know where to start in here. My dearest mum would have a fit if she knew I was in here at all." She made a face, still reluctant to bring up any relatives after the earlier incidents.

"Oh? Why's that?" Sirius asked curiously. He didn't see why any normal parents would have anything against harmless pranks. Sure, his parents were always irate at his purchases, but they were irate with everything Sirius did. Just breathing drove them into a frenzy. "What's wrong with Zonko's?"
Zonko's was like Sirius' second home, proceeded only by James' manor. His own home came in third, but he didn't really consider it a home. More like his own personal hell.

"Long story short, I have a very strict mother. I didn't turn out quite like she wanted, so nothing I do is right." Not allowing the bitter edge she usually used when bringing up the females in her family color her voice, she shook her head. "I've long since come to the conclusion I only need the support of one of my parents, and that's what dad's for." Muggle or not, her father was far more of a support than her witch mother could ever be. He didn't have unnatural expectations to hang over her head.
Smiling in obvious amusement, she looked at him and decided to change the course of the conversation a little. "So feel free to 'corrupt' me."

"Ouch. I'm sorry to say I can completely empathize. Imagine that, times two. My father didn't like me any more than my mother did. To them, it was all Regulus. He could do no wrong, and I was always the failure." He slung his arm around her shoulder, still clutching the fireworks. "We make quite the pair, you know?"
He smirked at her comment, nodding. "Have no fear, you shall be corrupted."

"Parents." Finding that the perfect, most encompassing comment she could make, Madison was sorely tempted to leave it as the only thing she said. It would be a little counterproductive, so she continued around a dry smile, "As morbid as it might sound, I'm glad to find another living, breathing failure. Makes it clear just how ridiculous some people's dreams and wishes for their kids really are." It was this fact that had made her certain that, should she ever have kids of her own, she would never put unnatural expectations on them. But that was one of those things that was neither here nor there.
To finish that part of the conversation and hopefully move onto something more fitting for the present, she flicked a glance to regard the arm now around her shoulders, then smirked at his comment. "I look forward to it."

"I'm happy to be your living, breathing failure. Sort of like Prince Charming." Sirius laughed, completely amused by the idea. "Do I get a big white horse?"
He noticed her look and smiled since she didn't squirm away or do any other thing to show that she disliked what he was doing. "Your education shall begin tonight, madame."

"I don't see why not, provided that's what you want to be riding around on. Though I would have marked you for choosing something a bit more..unique, I guess." There was a hint of teasing to that, as Madison recalled the mention of a certain pet project Sirius had expressed a need for help with - the motorcycle he wanted to fix and enchant. She had the connections to help with that as far as repairs went, and would use that as an excuse to have something mechanical to work on again. "Whatever it is you wish, however, my dear prince." With this, her eyes literally shined with mischief - another thing she was was a fast learner.

Sirius smirked, knowing exactly what she was alluding to. "Consider it... training wheels, of a sort. I'd much rather have the motorcycle, but for some reason, nothing makes a woman swoon faster than a big white horse. And, the motorcycle would be a bad sort of steed right now, since it doesn't run."
He smirked at her, raising a brow. "Glad to hear it, love. You won't regret it."
