Lily nodded, taking Nick's hand just to annoy Maddie and Sirius, who was still practically frozen on the ground. "Right." She said, leading the way to Honeydukes as if they had never been interrupted in the first place. When they were out of sight of the other two, she paused, looking at Nick closely. "Are you sure you're okay?"
It took another fifteen minutes after Evans and the girl walked off before Sirius was allowed full range of motion. He looked up at Maddie, feeling a little sheepish for losing his temper. "Er... Are you..." All right? Happy? Nothing seemed to fit, so Sirius let the words trail off.

"I'm positive." Now that adrenaline was wearing off, Nick could realize that he was highly amused by what had happened. A confrontation between himself and Maddie had been brewing for quite some time, and it just took the wrong sort of push to make her snap. "Have to thank you for getting Black off of me, by the way. Having to curl up in the fetal position would have been terribly embarassing."
Clearing her throat against a lump that didn't seem to want to go away, Madison regained her voice as she glanced down. "I'm fine..ecstatic, really. Christmas just got a whole lot more exciting." Smiling in a self-deprecating matter, she held out a hand to help him up.

Lily shook her head at his thanks, reaching up to brush some dirt off of his cheek. "Don't worry about it. Just don't tell me I should expect to play princess charming all the time. I don't think my nerves can handle it." Content that he would survive, she wrapped her arms around him in a hug. "Sirius Black is such a git." She sighed.
Sirius took her hand and got to his feet, brushing off his clothes. "Well, that was fun." He joked, but his words lacked enthusiasm. "Did you still want to get food?" Siri wasn't sure what the date protocol called for when the male half beat up the female half's brother. He'd have to ask James about they.

"I won't expect you to fight my battles now. This one was just..a bit of a surprise, to put it lightly." As that was an understatement, he chuckled mirthlessly and returned her gesture of a hug. "And yes. Yes, he is. Now I have founded reason to dislike him." Being punched on tended to throw the chance for anything besides loathing out the window.
"Yes, I still want to, as I don't think this is worth ruining a perfectly good date over." There was emphasis on the 'd' word. Apparently, she had accepted what this was really going to be. "Unless, of course, you've changed your mind about the matter."

"I'm glad you found something to be happy about." Lily sighed, pulling away from him and staring straight ahead, somewhere in the vicinity of his shoulder, when she said, "I'm sorry that I started something between you and Maddie. I never meant to."
Sirius' good humor returned now that it was just the two of them, he grinned and placed his arm back around her shoulder. "Glad to hear it. I have no problem continuing with our date..." He paused, looking like she had just handed him the Quidditch cup. "And if you ever feel like punching my brother, do feel free."

"I hate to admit to it like this, but what happened really didn't have that much to do with you." Nick sighed and placed a hand on Lily's shoulder, looking at her even if she didn't seem exactly willing to do the same. "This was a situation that had been waiting to happen for a while. We've always been at each other's throats, even when we were little. It just had to happen when there were others involved."
"If you need me to, I might oblige." She smiled at that point, back to her normal, generally happy self. There wasn't even a point to her in thinking over what had happened - it had no place in this trip, and she was damned determined to enjoy every minute.

Lily looked up at him, studying his face for a minute before giving him the slightest of nods. "I thought twins were supposed to be close?" She asked curiously. She had only been around a set of twins once, and they had finished each others every sentence. It was hard to imagine twins that didn't.
Siri laughed, a deep chuckle that lit up his face. "He's as much of a git as could be. You can beat him up all you'd like. So... We still going to the Three Broomsticks?"

"That's what I was always told too, but it wasn't really the case in our household." A bit reluctant to speak of his family situation, Nick nonetheless touched on it so she could better understand why what had happened did so. "Our dad's a Muggle and about as non-magical as you can get, whereas mum came from a pure-blood family. There tends to be a straight line drawn in the middle. I take after our mother and sister, she takes after our father and eldest brother."
"I don't see why not. That was what we planned." Well aware that they were liable to get odd looks for going back in there after that little..display that had occured, she frankly decided that she also didn't care. "And I don't think plans should change because of that exhibition show we stopped." The statement made her smirk.

Lily could tell it wasn't exactly his favorite topic, so she nodded. "I see. I'm the only witch in my family, and it's sort of caused a rift between my sister Petunia and I. We weren't all that close to begin with, though." Lily made a face. Just thinking about her sister made her feel a little melancholy, and that certainly wasn't what this evening was supposed to be about. "We can probably just take the road up to Hogwarts. As long as we don't do anything too crazy no one should notice we came from Hogsmeade." It was always easier to sneak into the castle than out.
"Glad you feel that way." Sirius said honestly, offering her arm to lead her back inside. He'd just hex anyone who had the misfortune of saying anything about what had just happened, because for the moment, Sirius didn't want to think about it. He'd deal with it later when he told James the news, and they'd come up with a plan of action together. For now, Sirius wanted to spend time with Maddie, unbothered by everyone else. "Order whatever you like- my treat."

As family overall seemed to be one of the least kosher subjects at that point in time, Nick let Lily's comments about her own situation pass without comment, then nodded in response to her suggestion. Taking one of her hands and twining their fingers together, he then took the lead as they started on the hard-packed path that led back up to the school grounds.
Deciding to save thanks for his offer for later, Madison linked her arm with his and let him lead the way back inside. It was a very fortunate thing that the witnesses inside decided to neither say anything nor give the pair a second glance, something Maddie was greatly thankful for. They were able to find a booth - not the one that had led to the ill-fated fight - and when Madam Rosmerta came around to take their order, Maddie kept it simple. The lunch special, along with a bottle of ice-cold Butterbeer.

Sirius offered Rosmerta smile. "The same, thanks." When she walked off, he took Maddie's hand over the table, staring at her with his beautifully blue eyes. "So, I was thinking that since you finally admit that this is a date, that when it gets dark we can take those fireworks I was talking about up to the highest tower in the castle and set them off. Our own private show. What do you say?" He figured the distraction was just what they both needed, and after all: Siri was good at nothing if it wasn't distractions.
"We can even get some food from the kitchens and some firewhiskey and make it a real party, if you'd like."

Drawn in by just how damned blue his eyes were, Maddie met his gaze evenly and unflinching. His entire idea struck her as theatrical and a bit on the corny side, but the thought of it made her smile nonetheless - if crookedly. Flicking a glance down at their joined hands, she pretended to consider the matter for a moment - though it proved unnecessary as she'd already made her mind up.
"I think that's a brilliant idea. Might take a bit of work to sneak around with all that, but it would make this unforgettable." Nearly laughing at how she was coming across, she slowly shook her head. "Not that I'd be able to forget it, mind."

Sirius normally wasn't so dramatic in his date planning, but for Maddie, he wanted to give her what every girl wanted, which was dramatic gestures of affection. For himself? Well, it paid off for him, too: he got to spend time with her, he got to make things explode loudly, and he got to sneak around the castle after dark. It was perfect, as far as he was concerned.
"You'd be surprised how easy it is to sneak around at night in the castle. Besides, running away from getting caught is part of the fun." Especially when one stole James' invisibility cloak, and could therefore watch the confusion that followed. "Wow, I'm glad I'm forgettable." Sirius said jokingly, rolling his eyes.

Smirking at his reactions, especially to that last ambiguous comment she'd made, she reached across the table with her free hand and traced imagined patterns across the back of his hand lightly with a fingernail. "Now, see, I don't sneak around after hours quite enough to have experience in this area. The running I also have no experience in, but I'll take your word for it."
Mood growing lighter by the minute and the incident from before all but forgotten, she then pulled her tracing hand back and folded that on the table in front of her, leaning forward slightly.

Sirius leaned in as well, tempted to start a public snogging fest of his own, but just barely resisting. Considering what had happened earlier, he was pretty sure that if he did, he would be delivered a quick slap across the face. It wouldn't be the first time, either.
"You'll pick it up quickly, I promise." Siri said, grinning impishly. "There's no way you can't, if you're my girlfriend. It's part of the job requirements, love: must run fast, and must sneak out and cause all terrible sorts of mischief. Other than that, I'm not picky." He said the last jokingly, putting on an innocent expression.
