"It's certainly good to know that you're not picky." Adopting an amused expression, she sat back to lessen the..temptation for both of them. If she was honest, in the past couple of hours, her opinion of Sirius had done a complete 180. "Though I wasn't aware that I'd quite reached girlfriend status. Is that your way of informing me, or are you just enlightening me the requirements so I can prepare?"

"Maybe I should let you figure it out yourself..." Sirius voice trailed off and he raised a brow at her, but he still had an amused expression on his face. "Would you like me to refer to you as my girlfriend? I already know you'll let me drag you out on a second date- how could you not?" He grinned innocently, watching her sit back, though he himself did not.
"If you don't, I can ask every girl I see until someone says yes. See, it's like Queen of England- it's a status that just can't go vacant. It wouldn't be right."

Wanting to snort at the obvious spin he was putting on this - being the one to play hard to get and alluring at the same time - Madison regarded him thoughtfully for a long moment, almost like an art critic appraising what was supposed to be a particularly masterful work. Licking her lips in an absent gesture, she finally smiled sweetly, like a little girl rewarded with a doll she'd been dreaming of.
"As I think there would be very little dragging involved were we to have a second date, I suppose you may call me your girlfriend." She then laughed at how that had come out, as it sounded just..absurd and overinflated.

"You sound mildly disappointed that there will be no dragging. Well, my dear, I aim to please- should you like to be dragged from the castle to.... somewhere.... just let me know. It'll be exhausting work, but anything for my girlfriend." How Sirius managed to keep a straight face while saying the most absurd things was hard to comprehend, and yet he always managed, somehow.
"Come to think of it, I can even drag you from somewhere to the castle, should that be what you want. You need only ask."

Considering what he said for a moment - and just how silly it sounded to a certain part of her mind - Maddie managed to keep her own expression schooled towards mild interest..while not letting the laughter that was just waiting to come out do so. He had a way with words and making even the most absurd explanations seem like simple logic. It also served to turn whatever she said back onto her and twist it in some way.
"What I meant was that I don't mind going out with you, simple enough. You don't have to drag me around, but if that's the way you like to do things.." Lifting an eyebrow with a significant look, she then made a point of looking down at the edge of the table. "Let's just see how things go."

"I think you forget, my dear, I only aim to please. What I want is irrelevant, really, as long as you're happy and content. Be that dragging, snogging... whatever you want." He nodded seriously then smiled, taking her chin in his hand and making her look up at him. "If there's something you don't want to do, that's fine with me as well."

Considering what to say as a rebuttal for a long moment, Madison simply studied his expression. Again, he was turning the conversation, and it was almost enough to make him infuriating. Almost. It was rather hard to come back with something witty or even fitting, and she was starting to wonder why he had this quality to scramble everything in her mind so it came out differently than she intended.
"I concede." She finally said at length, past the point of getting a point across. "And I also know when to wave the white flag. You win this round. Now may we actually cease talking about what we can or will do and actually enjoy what we are doing? Granted, the verbal sparring has been fun, but I daresay we would probably do better talking about mutual interests."

For the first time in a while, sirius's date had thrown him for a loop instead of the other way around. He stared at her a moment, thinking of his own response. What Siri did best was verbal sparring, and he had never met a girl that didn't prefer talking about the future to the here and now, whether that be snogging or other activities.
"All right," he said slowly, watching her reaction closely for a sign of what to do. "What would you like to talk about, then?"

When it became clear that Sirius was the one surprised - and it was something Madison could just see, both in his expression and the way he spoke slowly - she smirked a bit, trying not to keep a mental tally of how things were going. "I recall us touching on the subject of Quidditch in the owlery, but we never did finish that subject. You have any impressions about how your team might do in this year's matches? Unless that's supposed to be privileged information, of course."
While there might be inter-House rivalry in the sport, it was something she was actually interested in knowing.

"Quidditch?" Sirius repeated, his eyes lighting up with his usual fervor. There were few things he loved more than Quidditch. "Of course I can't tell you everything, it would be considered fraternizing with the enemy..." He grinned as if he thought her as an enemy was an extremely funny idea. "However, I highly doubt you're going to be recording it all down and passing it on."
"Our team this year is bloody brilliant if I do say so myself, and it seems everyone has been practicing over the summer. Evans has become faster, and on the pitch she works with James like a dream-" He was so caught up in Quidditch he even forgot to make a face at Lily's name- "Our keeper seems completely omnipresent at the goal posts, and of course the beaters, well, we're always up to snuff. And of course our seeker is good, too. Lena's good at not being seen until she already has the snitch."

Had his expression not positively lit up at the mention of the sport, Madison would have burst out laughing at the 'fraternizing with the enemy' comment. As it was, as he spoke with such fervor, she had a hard time keeping a straight face. Now she knew at least one thing to get him talking..and likely keep his attention.
"Glad to hear it. Sounds like I might have found the team to support..of course, outside of when we're playing." Remembering one of the earlier comments, she then added as an afterthought, "And not that there's much to tell, but this conversation doesn't leave this table. You have my word on that."

Sirius made a face at the mention of the Hufflepuff team. "I understand they're you're house and all, but it's better if you pick another team for this year. Hufflepuff's defense is rubbish, even Ravenclaw can beat them and theirs isn't much better. As much as I hate to say it, Slytherin's team is looking pretty good this year-" Sirius and James had been sneaking to the pitch when other teams were practicing to get notes, all while under the invisibility cloak. "But still, our team is out and out the best."
He grinned at her promise of secrecy, tracing his fingers lightly over hand. "Glad to hear it."

"I suppose the Quidditch expert would know best." Making the remark ambiguous in tone, she seemed to study his face - or possibly his expression. "I may as well simply support Gryffindor and leave it at that. I don't care if Slytherin's team is the best in the Wizarding world, there is no way I'm going to support them."

Sirius tried for modesty, but the look on his face spoke volumes. He knew that he knew Quidditch better than the back of his hand, and his knowledge of Quidditch factoids was only bettered by James'. "I don't know about expert, love."
He snickered at the idea of her supporting Slytherin, the idea was truely laughable. "I should hope not. I would have to renegotiate the whole girlfriend status if that were the case."

"You mean to tell me you're downplaying your knowledge of something? Oh, what a shock!" The way she laughed made it readily clear that she was teasing, and that she actually seemed to enjoy doing so.
"That withstanding..I barely tolerate any Slytherin I see. The chance of me supporting them in playing my favorite sport is next to nil. I'd only do so if pigs flew -and- Hell froze over." Point made, she smiled serenely and sat back, lacing her fingers together and placing both on the table. "But should you see your breakfast bacon suddenly sprout wings, be sure to let me know."
