It took all of 2.4 seconds for Nick to figure out exactly what the shrill noise had been. One very unhappy twin. One that was looking at him as if he'd suddenly sprouted another head. One that was standing there with Sirius frigging Black. "Hello, Mads. Isn't this a funny coincidence?"
"Funny isn't the word I would use." With some effort, Maddie was keeping her tone civil. It was hard to fathom what she thought of the situation at that particular moment, but she did have a question that begged to be asked. "Care to explain why you're out?"
Never one to be pushed around by his sister - much less when there were witnesses around - Nick returned her exasperated look with an even one. "Only if you explain why you're here."
THAT turned it into a challenge.

Sirius looked back and forth between the two, almost as if he was watching a quaffle go between them. Well, this was certainly interesting. Not only had he caught Lily Evans in a particularly comprimising state, now he was about to watch a girl fight. He didn't care that Nick was actually a guy- he was too skinny to really be counted as guy in Sirius' book. The only skinny guy that actually counted as such to him was James, and that was just a freakish exception. Merlin knew the boy ate like a hippogriff.
Lily sunk down in the booth, hoping that no one would notice her as the twins began to fight. She couldn't very well scamper away, as Nick was blocking her only exit, and what kind of girlfriend would she be then, anyway? No, better to remain where she was, not move, and hope they just forgot about her... Particularly Black. No, on second thought, she was more worried about Maddie. The girl had some muscle, and Lily had no doubt she would have few qualms with kicking her ass. She looked up at Sirius, almost begging him to rescue her from her precarious condition... but that would be fraternizing with the enemy. She was stuck.

"Oh, now you're going to pin this on me. I'm not the one snogging in plain view, furthermore in a room full of people!" Sirius and Lily both forgotten for the moment, Maddie approached the table and grabbed one of Nick's sleeves, winding what nails she had into the fabric to get a good grip. "Add in the fact that you've suddenly gone from recluse to casanova and you wonder why the hell I'm mad!"
"So as always, your temper takes center stage in something like this." Nick shot back, voice barely a hiss. Not putting anything past his sister at that point, he moved away from Lily and managed to stand up, not bothering to try and get out of Maddie's grip. When she grabbed..there was no getting away. "And you wonder why there's never been any guy to pay attention to you before now! You're no better than a child and just as naive!"
That was one that went below the metaphoric belt, and Maddie's eyes narrowed. Using her grip on Nick's sleeve, she led/forced him to the door and actually dragged him outside, intending to take this there because there would be less bystanders - hopefully - and more room.

Why the hell is it any of her business what he's doing? Lily bristled, beginning to straighten in the booth the minute that Maddie took hold of Nick. Sure, Lily got that twins were protective over each other. That made sense. But it wasn't like she was raping him- they were just snogging, for merlin's sakes. She wasn't dumb enough to interfere just yet, however. Most guys wouldn't appreciate having a girl come to their defense, so she'd just shut up and glare at Maddie for the moment and give him the chance to handle it before she stepped in with a well aimed hex...
Sirius' brows shot up the minute that Nick insulted Maddie, and he growled slightly. He had half a mind to punch him right then and there, but he didn't want to do that in front of his queen-of-stars-moon-and-all-that-is-good-in-the-world-future-wife , as he had a very strong feeling that she would object to him smashing her twin's face in. No, he'd wait for his revenge on Nick later... as for right now, he was going to follow them and make sure the annoying twit didn't say anything else that Sirius deemed insulting. Unfortunately for Siri, Lily didn't think much of being left in the booth by herself, and she caught up to him in moments as both went outside to see how the fight was going.

Bystanders came hermetically sealed to this situation, and that was something both twins learned quickly. Nick expected Lily to want to keep an eye on this, but Sirius..well, that gave him a sinking feeling in the pit of his stomach. He knew how to defend himself, he had to, but if Black got involved, it was liable to get nasty. Then again, it already was. "Now that we're out in the open, what are you going to do, Mad? Hm? Tell me that much, if you even know."
"I have half a mind to hex you where you stand..but I won't." The answer was blunt, and she fixed him with a pointed look, then her eyes flicked to Lily. She had to follow. Of course. "I'm not even going to ask what it is you two have going on, because I don't want to know. I just would have thought I could have found out about it differently." Her temper was starting to slow, and the way she was acting had started to sink in. "Just..go back to whatever it was. I don't even care."

"Does it matter?" Sirius asked Nick, his eyes narrowed and dark. He had taken a severe disliking to this girl, and he didn't even frankly give a damn that it was Maddie's twin he was addressing. "You were out of line to speak to her like that- I suggest you apologize." He said it calmly enough, but the hint of an underlying threat couldn't have been more obvious.
Lily rolled her eyes, some of her usual spunk returning. "Shut it, Black. This isn't any of your business. Yours either." She nodded to Maddie. She raised a brow at Maddie's threat of a hex towards her brother, and her hand went to her own wand. She wouldn't tolerate hexes over something so trivial to begin with. Was it really necessary? "You two are acting like such children." She huffed, glaring at Sirius and Maddie. Sirius returned her glare.
"Children, Evans?" He snorted. "You two are the ones snogging in public just because you can."

"You're telling me to apologize, Black?" Nick barked a laugh, shaking his head at the sheer idiocy of this. One little misunderstanding over something trivial by all accounts, and it was blowing up into something it never should have. "Please enlighten me as to why you even have a say in this or any room to talk. Then we'll see what I do."
"Go ahead, Evans." Beyond the point of using Lily's 'proper' name, Madison said it because she noticed the redhead's hand moving to her wand. "I want to see you try it. You're just dying to defend him and I can see it."

Sirius had never been one to take backtalk easily. In fact, he was always used to getting his way, one way or another. It didn't matter to him that some of his methods were cruel or unusual. To him, it was all part of the game. "I would believe that I am... Though why I'm even giving you the chance is beyond me. I should just turn you into a newt, much like you deserve." He completely ignored Nick's question- after all, he didn't owe the girl anything.
"What, do you have a problem with that, too?" Lily folded her arms across her chest, her knuckles white as she gripped her wand so tightly she was in danger of snapping it. "You seem to have no problem ordering him about, was he supposed to seek your approval before he was allowed to speak to me?"

"Oh, and that's supposed to scare me. If you could even turn me into a newt, I'd applaud your above-average skill." Nick was beyond the point of caring what he said or how he said it. This situation was vastly uncalled for, and was going to be made clear in a very pointed way. What Lily said caught his attention, and he smiled mirthlessly. "I'm sure that's exactly what she wanted to happen here, Lily. She's always had to order me around, it makes her feel superior."
"Says the brother with the superiority complex. Remember mum's constant praises?" Madison's tone was now a sneer. "I'm surprised you can function without it. She's not here to pet your ego."
"I may have a superiority complex, but at least I know when to act like a sane human being. You? With that damn temper you have, you should have been the Squib of the family." When he said that, he may as well have poured ice water over Madison's head - she went about as white as a sheet.

"Is that so? Well, how about I show you..." Sirius whipped out his wand, but Lily was faster.
"Expelliarmus!" She caught Siri's wand in midair and smirked at him, raising a brow. "What now, Black?"
Sirius stared at her, his expression almost comical. He hadn't figured in Lily's newfound loyalty to the girl when he had intended on hexing him, but luckily enough for him, he was just as capable of physical retaliation. In fact, he liked to demonstrate that fact at least once a week. He was going to give Maddie one last chance to interfere- after all, it was her family he was attacking- but all bets were off the minute Nick insulted her yet again. He just didn't learn, did he?
Lily's eyes flew open as she watched Sirius pounce on Nick, sending them both down to the ground in a cloud of dust. "SIRIUS BLACK!" She screeched, trying to pull him off, but she couldn't get a good enough grip on him. "GET THE BLOODY HELL OFF OF HIM!" She was so caught up in the scuffle she even forgot about her wand, which stayed clasped and forgotten in her hand.

Madison watched what went on next in a blank sort of disconnected state. One moment, Nick was standing and still giving her a look of loathing and saying one of the worst insults ever thrown to date..and the next, he was down in the dust thanks to Sirius. She blinked, and that was the only reaction she could muster.
Having a bit of the same problem, Nick felt entirely disconnected. Sure, he felt the sensation of hitting the ground and knew Sirius was damn intent on beating the living hell out of him, but there wasn't fight in him. The odds were tipped, and he saw no reason to do any more than try to defend himself.

Lily scrabbled with Sirius a few more moments, nearly getting knocked over onto the ground when Sirius delivered Nick a punch in the ribs. She snarled, catching sight of someone's wand- maybe Nick's? Could be Sirius'. Either way, it wasn't her's- lying on the ground, forgotten in the scuffle, and she immediately seized it. "Petrificus Totalus!"
It sort of worked. Siri stopped moving at anything faster than an inch a minute, giving Nick plenty of time to get away from him. Sirius growled, trying to fight Lily's spell, saying something along the lines of "Let me go!," but it came out more like "Leeeeeeeeeettttttttttt mmmmmmeeeeeeeee ggggggggooooooo!!!" Lily snorted. He sounded like someone had pressed slow motion on his remote. "Yours?" She asked Nick, holding up the extra wand in her hand, completely ignoring Sirius.

Getting up and away from the irritation that was Black, Nick grimaced and placed one hand to his ribs - the area was throbbing fit to beat. Glancing at the wand in Lily's hand, he took it from her with a sigh, realizing he must have somehow lost it in the one-sided scuffle. "Not that it's doing me much good.."

"Are you all right?" Lily frowned at him, clearly worried. If Black had hurt him, she would do a hell of a lot worse than simply freeze him. As far as she was concerned, the fight was over, and she was content to leave Black and Maddie there to feel like asses. She could promptly make sure he was fine, and then they could get back to what they had been doing when they were so rudely interrupted... yes, that sounded like a brilliant plan.

"I'm fine, really." Taking an experimental breath, he found it didn't hurt quite as much as it might have. Black could punch, but he could also take most blows without much damage. Brushing the better part of the dust off of his clothes, he flicked an annoyed glare at Madison who seemed intend on staring at the still-frozen Sirius.
"You and the git can stay here, the spell effect will wear off soon enough." His voice was civil, as he didn't want her trying anything either. "Lily, I think it might be best if we went back to the castle..might be more peaceful there."
