Jane happily mounted her Nimbus 1500. The newest of the Nimbus Racing Broom Company. Though a newer brand, she had been very pleased with the results so far and didn’t doubt that within a few years, they would be amongst the most popular quidditch products. The Gryffindor Quidditch Captain wasn’t dressed in any sort of special garb. Simply a pair of black sweats rolled up to her knee caps that’s she’d brought from home and a tight yellow Wimbourne Wasps t-shirt, one of her favorite teams. Unusually enough she was also completely barefoot, her shoes discarded with her regular uniform in the locker room. Her golden hair was pulled half back, simply to keep it from blowing right in her face but still down so she could enjoy the sensation of it whipping in the wind. She hummed yet another Beatles song to herself, “Blackbird,” which she found appropriate for her independent Quidditch practice. Though Gryffindor was not playing till next month, Jane was determined to beat her opponents. Normally a procrastinator, she was not prepared to waste any time when it came to her favorite sport. Well favorite wizarding sport anyway.
“Blackbird singing in the dead of night. Take these broken wings and learn to fly,” she sung to herself but not exactly quietly seeing as how the pitch was currently deserted. Though her voice was not one of any great exceptional talent, it was pleasant and melodic and in tune. Or at least it wouldn’t make someone prefer listening to nails on a chalkboard as opposed to her singing.
She rose higher on her broom slowly till she was a good few hundred feet off the ground. Though a chaser, the quaffle was not with her at the moment but instead still out in the trunk she’d dragged onto the turf. Instead, she had only released the bludgers, deciding working on maneuvering and speed would be more beneficial. She could see the bludgers in the distance, knowing that somehow they’d soon sense her presence and come tearing after her.
Jane waited though until they came speeding at her. With a laugh, she took off towards her right and tightly circled the pitch in a fast arc, agilely twisting in corkscrew motion as she rounded the short side of the field with her bludgers following a few feet behind. She turned out of her her corkscrew into a steep dive in between two of the goal posts. Which was sort of an infamous move for Jane that was typically displayed once each game. But it definitely had earned the right to do so seeing as was a difficult, dangerous maneuver that had taken hours of practice and even several broken bones to perfect.

Parker was heading out to the Quidditch field to practice for the upcoming Slytherin vs. Hufflepuff game. He was just reaching the field when he noticed someone already flying. It couldn't be one of his team members, he just left the group from eating a late lunch in the Great Hall. Parker was watching the person expertly dodge the Bludgers that were speeding around the field. The person flew closer to him and he instantly recognized her as Jane, a Gryffindor chaser. He smiled and ran his hands through his hair. Well, it was a large field, no reason they couldn't both practice. He mounted his older, yet sturdy Nimbus model and kicked off into the air. He was watching Jane's progression around the the nearest Keeper hoops. He was surprised when a Bludger flew by his head, missing it by inches. With a cry of shock he dodged the other one that followed.

Jane pulled out of her dive as she heard a male voice cry out. Still moving straight across the field. She looked up to see the Hufflepuff Quidditch player, Parker, who was also incredibly cute though unfortunately maybe a little too young for her. She knew the match between Hufflepuff and Slytherin was coming up at the end of the month and she figured he was obviously here to practice. Maybe she could give him a little competition. Oh like a mini quidditch game. The idea greatly excited her. She knew Parker was not quite the most sociable person around but he clearly loved the sport and she couldn’t imagine him not being up for a little challenge. With a friendly smile she flew up close to him, dodging a bludger on her way up and still giving him plenty of space to move about.
“Fancy meeting you here,” she said pleasantly swinging her bare legs on her stationary broom. A bludger whooshed towards her face and she ducked out of the way. But she quickly popped back up to give Parker a welcoming grin.

"I would say the same," Parker said, smiling slightly as Jane dodged a Bludger. He once again ran his hands through his hair and cleared his throat. "So, you, er, deciding to practice early before your matches?" Parker said, he found himself nervous. He saw out of the corner of his eye a Bludger rushing towards him. He went into an awkward dive and barely recovered. He grinned sheepishly. This is ridiculous, Parker thought, he was going to make a fool of himself, tripping over words, and almost being pummeled by Bludgers; probably by the end of this Jane would think him a nutter.

Hahaha Jane think him a nutter? Out of the two of them, Jane was definitely the crazy one.
She watched his awkward dive and couldn’t help but giggle. Parker was a good quidditch player but also seemed shy. He came back up alright without any head trauma via bludger. “Yes, of course. That’s why I win,” she said lightly, though only half-jokingly because well Gryffindor usually did win and flashed him a mischievous smile. "I take it your training for your match against Slytherin?"
She saw out the corner of her eye, one of the little demonic metal balls turning around so it would soon be flying back towards them. Her grin widened, showing off her teeth. “I’ll race you,” she said enthusiastically with a bit of a challenging demeanor. “First one hit by a bludger owes the other a butterbeer.” And with that, Jane leaned over her broom and took off giving Parker no time to respond.

Parker smiled. He would gladly take up her challenge. With out a moments hesitant, he flattened himself against his broom and raced after her. The wind blowing in his face made him feel relaxed and comfortable. Jane was obviously very nice, and that made Parker even more relaxed. Parker was trying to be less reserved, especially around girls.
Jane was a very good flyer, she was ahead of him, but barely. He could see why the Gryffindor team was always so good. If they had as many team members that flew like Jane, the Hufflepuff team would have a run for their money.

Jane laughed wildly as the wind whipped her in the face, spiraling through the bludgers as they approached. She cocked her head to the right slightly and saw out of her peripheral vision, Parker and was impressed that he was so close to her. Probably no more than five feet behind her. She was light and also a good flyer and most people had a hard time keeping up with her. She smiled brightly, enjoying the adrenaline rush as well as this game. Jane loved games really. She lived for challenges. She flattened herself as tightly as possible to her broom and shot off like a comet, her mischievous giggle echoing behind her.

The sudden speed from Jane surprised him. Parker tried to keep up, but his broom shook with the strain of two much speed. In truth, he was flying faster now, to keep up with Jane, than he normally would in a Quidditch match. While fast fliers were good, players needed to fly at a pace to still be able to see and catch the Quaffle.
With one last attempt of speed, Parker flattened his chest against his broom. Jane was a clear 13 feet away from him now, and the distance was getting larger. Parker was never a quitter, and anticipated challenges. But he was able to recognized talent that was better than him. With a resigned laugh, Parker shouted up to Jane, "I think I know Gryffindor's key to success now!"

Jane slowed down her speed and drew up beside Parker. “And I think I found a worthy opponent. You almost had me!” she said with a friendly smile. “I truly hope you kick Lucius Malfoy’s butt at the match.” She was panting a little. It was hard to get oxygen when you were flying that fast. Like the air was too quick for your lungs to catch. She breathed in slowly and deeply for a few moments till she felt things get back to normal. “You are a great flier.”

"Thanks, though you are definitely a better flier than me." Parker chuckled. He practiced very hard to be a good flier, Quidditch was something he was good at, so he put a lot of effort into being better. Though Jane had so much natural talent, he could not compete. "I hope we beat Slytherin, I honestly think we have a chance..." Parker grinned. He really liked Jane, she was such a laid back girl, and very easy to talk to. "The victory party alone would be amazing!"

Jane scrunched her nose up and shook her head lightly. “Nah,” she said. “Just lighter. You have more muscle than I do.” Which was most likely the case. Jane was pretty tiny. Though she actually was fairly muscular from dancing, she was short and couldn’t weigh more than 110 pounds at the most. Parker on the other hand, while not a giant Rugby player kind of guy, he was definitely not scrawny either. “You’ll do well I am sure. You have great fliers on your team. You’ll definitely give them a run for there money.”

"I sure hope so." Parker said, "Either we will beat them or make a complete fool out of ourselves!" Parker shrugged his shoulders. He could only see two outcomes, that somehow the Hufflepuff team was good enough to beat Slytherin, or if history proved itself, Hufflepuff's would continue to be viewed as duffers. At least he knew Jane was supportive, not very many people cared about the Hufflepuff House.

“Now I’m sure that’s not true!” Jane said fervently. She hated how snobby people can be. “Even if somehow you lose, I’m sure it’ll be close. Then how can you be fools? If you played a good game, whether you win or lose…” She shook her head. It truly annoyed her how petty some people were. Jane was not by any means a saint. She was crazy and implusive. Blunt and even lazy. But she was not judgmental or narrow-minded. Two things she absolutely hated.
