The telltale whoosh of air was the first warning Madison had that one of the two bludgers was coming at her - and fast. Glad that she was up a good ten feet above the tops of the goal posts, she quickly adjusted her grip on the broom and went into a dive, barely even blinking as the bludger rushed past the space where her head had been just seconds earlier. Pulling up to glide, ears straining for sounds of the other bludger, she lifted both hands off of their death grip on the broom handle, steering merely with her knees for now. "Think you slammed that one hard enough at me?" She called over the rushing wind - practicing on a windy day made the sport far more interesting, especially when the snitch kept flitting in and out of the pitch airspace, hard to see but in glimmering flashes.
The one she was shouting at, Devon, merely grinned at the question, tapping his bat against the palm of his other hand. "Hey, you said you needed practice like what's going to be going on during a game. I'm simply obliging you." Gripping his bat tightly as one of the swerving bludgers came around, he took aim at it and smacked it with a pronounced CRACK, sending it again rocketing off towards Madison. Watching her evasive maneuver this time - one that nearly de-seated her from her broom - he shook his head. She was good at the sport, but it was going to take more than him to get her in shape in time for the rapidly approaching game against Slytherin.

Reese smiled at Madison as she dove to avoid a Bludger. Reese had the Quaffle tucked under her arm and passed it to someone else as she pulled upwards to loop around into another formation. Reese circled around Madison, their seeker, before pulling to a halt next to her. "I think we have a chance to beat Slytherin, don't you?" Reese grinned.

Blowing whisps of hair out of her face and brushing them quickly back, Madison craned her neck to one side to pop it - that last dive had snapped her head about a little with the speed of it. "I certainly hope so. I don't think I could take the shame of losing to those damned snakes."
Rolling her eyes as Devon seemed to enjoy pelting the bludgers at the rest of the team for a change, she saw that as an opportunity to stop and catch her breath- at least for a few moments. Conversation never hurt that. "I don't need my own House disowning me, much less the rest of the school!"

"Ah, we won't disown you!" Reese laughed sympathetically. She could also feel the nerves of the rest of the team. As Hufflepuffs, she felt they had more to prove than the other houses. "Oh! Look whose decided to join us! A little late there Parker?" Reese teased as she circled her twin from high above.
"Don't get your wand in a knot." Parker muttered audibly as he mounted his broom and kicked off. "Sorry I'm late." He apologized to the team.

"Late's better than never, mate!" Devon called as he circled idly, tossing his bat from hand to hand as he waited for the telltale sounds of one of the bludgers returning to take another swing. They seemed to be enjoying chasing everyone else around now for the time being. "As long as you show up, we won't ostracize you."
"There he goes again, using big words he doesn't understand." Madison muttered under her breath, shooting one of her usual teasing barbs at her friend - even if he didn't hear it this time.

Reese heard Madison though. She grinned at her friend and pulled into a steep ascent.
Parker warmed up by flying a couple of laps around the arena. He then picked up the Quaffle. "Who's up for some passing exercises?" Parker asked, hoping to make up for his lateness.

"Might be a good idea, I'll drop the bat and join you." Oblivious to what had been said behind his back, Devon tossed his bat to the other Beater, solemnly entrusting him with the job of keeping everyone's heads from getting bashed in. Laughter broke the gravity of that as the two split up, and Devon approached Parker - adjusting his gloves. "You take the lead, not used to taking part in the passing. No harm in trying another position, though." He grinned.
Leaving the others to practise, Madison slowly went into a rise, going back to circling the pitch in the search for the golden Snitch. She was still getting used to the look of it, as it was something rarely ever used in the casual games she was accustomed to.

Parker held the Quaffle under his arm, circled in the air a couple of times before speeding up and throwing the Quaffle at Devon.
Reese kept her eye on who was in possession of the Quaffle and followed Parkers lead in the formation.

Devon caught the quaffle easily, ducking so he was all but level with his broom as a bludger whizzed through the air just a few inches above his back. Hearing the rush of wind that signaled another, he took evasive maneuvers and went into a partial dive, holding the quaffle for only a few moments long before passing it - throwing it in such a way so that either of the twins could catch it.

Reese dove to snatch the Quaffle. The Bludger that nearly hit Devon narrowly missed her, as she easily turned in the air. Pulling her broom out of her dive, Reese glanced over her shoulder to see if she could pass the Quaffle off. Parker was close by so she threw an underhanded pass to him. He caught it and sped away from her. Another Bludger rushed by Reese and then sped back. She had to pivot around to avoid getting hit. Deciding it best not to stay in one place she circled waiting for another turn at the Quaffle.
Parker flew a distance away from Reese and was coming up to Devon agian, he steadied his broom and hauled the Quaffle in the air.

Watching the maneuvers the other two went through as he waited for the next pass, Devon was glad to see that they both had excellent form. As he was playing out of his element, he thought he himself was doing rather well at it - the urge to bat at the constantly on-the-move bludgers was gnawing at him something fierce, but he knew better than to try that trick without a bat. A broken arm, mendable or not, wasn't welcome when such an important game was coming up as the one they were facing.
In position and ready for the next pass when it was thrown, he caught the quaffle easily and steered his broom with his knees, flying downfield to put further distance between himself and the others. There were both long- and short-range passes in any individual game, so it was always wise to practice both.
Sparing a glance upwards to see that Madison was still circling like a bird of prey and seeking out the Snitch, he shook his head and threw the next pass - hard, as he had quite an arm on him from the years of bludger-batting. Said subject of batting suddenly made another appearance, and he found himself performing a couple of narrow dodges - the one taking his role of beater was obviously doing this to simulate a very hostile game, so he didn't get angry for that reason.
