Remus grinned stupidly as he sat in the abandoned common room near the blazing fire bending over the table in front of him. It was surely at least 3 am but his eyes were wide open in alertness and as energized as he had been for the majority of the afternoon. He hummed under his breath with unnatural cheeriness. The same word ran through it mind repeatedly. Caddie. Just the thought of her made him want to stand up and shout out to the whole world. Typically quite diligent, tonight it was difficult for Remus to concentrate on the parchment in front of him. His secret project. The map. Still humming, he lazily lined the paper with his wand, creating black wands around it as the intricate parchment copied detailed blue prints of Hogwarts. Information he had both mapped out himself and discovered in the room of requirement. He was still unsure how he would manage certain aspects but for now, the work was pretty simple. He leaned back in his armchair and closed his eyes with a sigh content, letting his wand take over all the effort.

"Making progress, I see." Sirius said through a yawn, flopping down in the chair next to Remus. He had clearly just come from the shower, judging by the dark spots his hair was leaving on his red Quidditch tshirt. "How far are we?" It was always the same question, though Sirius never contributed much now that they had decided all the secret passageways had been found.
He shook his head in a doglike fashion, hitting everything in the vicinity with water. He didn't even notice as he paused to look at Remus, frowning slightly. "What are you so happy about?" He asked suspiciously. Usually when Remus was excited about something, it hardly boded well for him.

“It’s great,” Remus said in a daze not really processing anything Sirius said. He had hardly even noticed when he had walked into the room. He opened his eyes and looked down at the black lines and sighed. Sirius sprayed down on him a nice little shower of water. Remus didn’t react to the mini bath and just continued to stare down, smiling to himself.
“Sirius…I think I’m in love.”

Sirius stared at Remus for a second, resisting the urge to smack him on the back of the head to bring him back to his senses. Had Sirius missed the full moon? Remus was always grumpy up to the full moon, and he was always weak and out of it after... but Sirius was pretty sure he hadn't. This had to do with something else.
"What are you talking about?" He frowned at Remus, reaching out and nudging him gently between the eyes. This couldn't be Remus. Remus never proclaimed love over anything but chocolate and books, and neither were immediately in the vicinity, and even then, he never sounded so... sappy. This had to be an imposter.

“With Caddie….” Remus stared off dopily, oblivious as Sirius poked him in the face. “You were right. I told her how I felt. And...And it was wonderful Sirius.” He still couldn’t believe it. She liked him. Caddie liked him. And they were going to the ball together. Just him and Caddie. Caddie and him. Caddie and him dancing. Wait, DANCING!? Remus suddenly bolted up, throwing his shoulders back, and looked extremely frightened. “You have to help me Sirius.”

Freaking great. The Ravenclaw girl again.
"She did, did she?" He asked, raising a skeptical brow. He couldn't remember Remus ever dating anyone, usually going on and on about "what if I ate her?" or "what if she hates jazz?" or some other point that made no difference to Sirius. Feeling a little jealous that Remus wasn't paying attention to him, Sirius sighed and gave Remus a pointed look. "Are you sure she wasn't just trying to get away from you?"
He frowned when Remus started panicking, knowing it had absolutely nothing to do with what he had said. "What do you want from me?"

Remus nodded enthusiastically. “She said yes. I asked her to the masquerade and she said yes.” His smile seemed to widen if that was at all possible. For once, he was actually sincerely and completely looking forward to such a major event. He did enjoy a good social gathering once in a while but was definitely not quite the party hardy all the time type. Loud music and people acting like morons on adrenaline rushes was just not his thing. But this would be something special. “I’m sure she wasn’t. She held my hand.” He looked down fondly at his fingers.
“Sirius…I don’t know how to dance. You have to teach me.”

Sirius blinked at him, momentarily frozen. He licked his lips in anticipation of saying something, then shut his mouth again and shook his head just slightly. Part of him was proud that Remus was willingly going to a party, even a school sponsered one, and the more egotistical side of him was getting irked that Remus never went for him or James, but add in a chipper blond and he was all for it. It didn't strike him that this was more than slightly hypocritical, because he'd do almost anything for a pretty girl. "Aren't you just the luckiest bloke in the world." He rolled his eyes, sighing.
"Can't you get James to do it?" He whined. Sirius could dance, sure, and he didn't mind doing it, but if anyone caught him and Remus dancing, well, that would totally kill his reputation. Remus wouldn't be phased, however- he had no reputation with women to speak of, but Sirius was more than a little worried about his- it was all he had, after all, even though he had a girlfriend he knew would understand. He had to make sure that should something happen to Maddie, he still had options.

Remus missed Sirius’s sarcasm and simply nodded in agreement as he thought fondly of Caddie’s fingers in him. Briefly he envisioned her a dazzling dress, though she looked lovely no matter how she dressed, and them wheeling around the floor together in a graceful waltz.
But upon realization that he didn’t even know how to waltz he turned his attention back to the conversation and was a little irked with Sirius’s answer. Afterall, who was the one doing his homework all the time? “Please Sirius,” he begged. “Please. We could go to the room of requirement. Let’s go right now!” Enthusiasm pouring back into his voice.

"You're not going to let me say no, are you?" Sirius sighed, rubbing his eyes. Judging by Remus' voice alone, no matter what excuse Sirius might utter, he was going to be dragged. "Fine, but if you ever utter a word about this to anyone, even James and Peter, I will enjoy disembowling you."
Sirius got to his feet, casting the mantel clock a dirty look. "You'll have to go grab James' cloak. I don't dare want to explain to McGoogles why we're out at three in the morning this time."

Remus could’ve jumped and hugged Sirius. He was further surprised that he even agreed to go now. “Thank you Sirius,” he said brightly as he stopped up and gathered the map and supplies. “You’re the best.” Piling parchment into his arms, he dashed upstairs to retrieve the cloak.

"I better bloody well be the best after this." Sirius grumbled, looking up the staircase as he waited for Remus to return. Moony owed him big time. As in, do his homework for the rest of his life big time.
"Are you ready yet?" He called after Moony, shaking his head before going to the portrait hole. He'd risk getting caught outside the Fat Lady... then he'd not have to go to the Room of Requirement, that was for sure.

Remus opened James’s trunk quietly as not too disturb him. “What are you doing?” He turned to see Peter sitting up and looking at him curiously. “Going with Sirius,” he said quickly, grabbing the cloak and closing the trunk. Peter looked as if he was about to ask if he could come so Remus hurriedly shuffled out the door, calling back a hushed, “See you later.”
He scampered down the stairs, cloak folded over one arm. “Got it.” He held it up for Sirius as he walked towards him.

Sirius sighed, half hoping that James would have lost the damn thing so he could have refused to go and therefore would be free. Of course, that would never happen. James was just about as obsessed with his cloak as he was with Lily.
"Took you long enough. And Moony? You owe me your soul." Sirius took the cloak from Remus and put it over both of them, making sure they were good and covered before heading out. He led the way in silence towards the Room of Requirement, stopping only when the quiet footsteps of teachers could be heard. He pulled the cloak off in front of the blank wall, gesturing for Moony to appease it. "Hurry up before we get caught."
