Reese laughed, "That's true." Reese found herself quite enjoying the conversation. She was one to find something to talk about with almost anyone, and it didn't hurt that she was an easy person to be around. "How about a combination of them, with weather like this I wish that there is was a Hogsmeade trip today. It would be nice to grab a butterbeer. I also need some more Zonko's products."

"I know exactly what you mean, I can't wait for the next trip. I wish they didn't have to be spaced so far apart, though. We need a break from the stresses of this place more than once in a blue moon." As that was a little bit of an overstatement in most degrees, Devon chuckled all the same.

"I know right? With OWLs this year, I can hardly keep track of anything anymore. Hogsmeade is a perfect way to escape school..." Reese sighed, remembering the amount of homework she already had. She had already decided to put it off till later this evening, she worked better under pressure.

"Oooh..OWLs. You really do need to get away, then." Very glad that it wasn't the year for him to be preparing for those tests, Devon made a face at the thought of what Reese was going to have to go through because of them. "For the sake of your sanity, I hope the next trip comes quickly. Can't have mental breakdowns less than a month into the year."

"I hope not, these free periods that I was looking forward to, aren't exactly free. I still have trouble finishing everything." Reese laughed, "I'll get through it....hopefully." Reese hadn't expected her fifth year to be so trying. But she was up to the challenge and would undoubtedly try her best to finish with top marks. "On a brighter note, how are your classes looking so far?"

"Same as always, increasing in the level that I have to exert myself. Quidditch is pretty much my favorite escape, especially this year." Known as not one of the brightest students - even in their house - Devon didn't seem to be too happy just thinking about his workload. "Par for the course with me, though."

"Quidditch is a very good release, sometimes I think that even the teachers care more about our matches that us passing with top marks." Reese said, grinning. She was most looking forward to Quidditch this year, Hufflepuff had a great team. For the first time in a while they had a real shot at the Quidditch Cup.

"Don't I know it?" Devon smirked a bit, fully in agreement. "Every last one of the Professors are always at the games, and some of them get just as into it as we do. It wouldn't be far from the truth to say that Quidditch is the heart of Hogwarts life."

Reese nodded in agreement, "If my parents weren't so against it, I would pursue a Quidditch career after Hogwarts, but you know..."

"Is the the whole 'there's more to life than sports, what would you do when you start getting older and out of shape, etcetera, etcetera?' I've heard that one." Devon shook his head at the thought of his father's most recent 'pep talk' about what career he needed to pursue after graduation. Almost anything that didn't have anything to do with Quidditch would make Samuel Crawford happier than a clam.

Reese sighed, her parents wanted her to be a Healer, Auror, or something that made a difference, "It's all because my brother has ambitions to be an Auror, so apparently I need to do something 'meaningful' with my life."

"I know exactly what that's like." Forcibly reminded of his brother's dreams of simply coming to the school - on top of the ambitions he'd had - Devon pushed those thoughts to the back of his mind. They had nothing to do with the present situation. Family had a way of making one do things they never thought they would.
"It's not enough to simply get by, have to make your impression on the world..even if that's bloody hard."

"But does having to make your mark on the world have to have some grand impression?" Reese asked, feeling a little flushed at the constant bashing of her dreams. "How about making an impression through entertainment. Everyone loves Quidditch..."

"Not everyone, I'm afraid. A brother of a friend of mine can't play the sport to save his life, so he tends to dislike it. Then again, he's a bookworm to boot." Hardly able to understand how someone could actually read for pleasure purposes, Devon made a face and downed what remained of the pumpkin juice he'd been brought.
"But you know, ultimately, you have to be the one to decide what you want to do with your life. No one can make you do anything you don't want to, or keep you from what you do want to do." Surprised at his own sudden alacrity, he eyed the now-empty goblet, wondering what else had been in it besides juice.

Reese smiled somewhat sadly. "You see that's just it, I'm too much of a people pleaser. I always strive to do what I want, but somehow I end up doing what other people want me to do...although, I make it seem like it was my idea." Reese laughed a little, she was an independent girl, but she never liked to disappoint other people. She nearly kills herself to keep top marks, while making and keeping friendships, and devoting whatever time she has left to Quidditch (which is not nearly the amount of time she hoped it to be).
