Aquila sat in a plushy green arm chair in one of the corners of the Slytherin common room, which was mostly crowded that evening with Students working on homework. She was sitting across it rather than on it. Her back leaned against one arm rest while her legs dangled across the other, crossed with her feet hanging down clad in hot red heels with a good four inches on the bottom. An appealing invitation to most males, however, her face clearly read back off and her pointed nose buried into the book in front of her. In fact, the very same Twila had nearly hexed her for a few days prior which of course she had modified the cover on temporarily to detract other people’s curiosity. Looking through it, she could clearly see why it had been of value to her. She ran a hand subconsciously through her chocolate tresses and her tawny eyes focused on the pages in front of her, which she slowly flipped through.
She was aware of someone approaching and standing over her. But she ignored them, refusing to make eye contact; sure they would get the hint as she ignored them. A good few solid minutes passed and she winced in agitation as they didn’t remove themselves from her aura. “Can I help you?” she snapped, her eyes still never leaving the words in front of her.

"Tsk, tsk. No need to be sharp." Lucius said, smiling smugly. He looked down at Aquila, she would not be rude to him, he was sure. However, from what he had heard from Twila, her demeanor was not always predictable. "If you would rather be left alone, I would be glad to accommodate you." Lucius drawled, when in fact, he had no intentions on leaving just yet.

Aquila hardly batted an eye. “Hello Lucius,” she said. While she didn’t sound particularly pleased at having been disturbed, Aquila did not seem hostile either. “You should know better to disturb me in the first place.” She glanced away from her likely illegal potions book for the first time, turning her big golden eyes up at him for a moment to take a look at her fellow Slytherin prefect. She nodded with satisfaction. In her own way, giving him permission to stay. Was he her favorite person in the world? Most definitely not. But he was perfectly tolerable in the meantime.
She laughed lightly. “Somehow I doubt that. In fact, I’m sure most of the people here would say that I am the one who should be accommodating you.” She waved a hand, carelessly indicating at the other Slytherin students, most of which practically worshipped the ground Lucius walked on. “So again, how can I help you?”

Twila was also stretched out on a couch in the common room, though hers was her customary place in front of the fire. Her head popped up when she heard Lucius addressing someone who wasn't her, and she watched curiously as he joined Aquila. Well, that was interesting...
Twila rubbed her eyes and stretched languidly, rolling over on the couch so she was on her side, pulling her legs to her chest. She was considering taking a nap, but there were too many people in the common room to bother her. It was better to just wait for Lucius to come back.
She sighed, her curiousity getting the better of her as she sat up again to watch the proceedings. Lucius's back was to her, so she couldn't read his lips, but she could tell what Aquila was saying. Didn't look like anything important. Twila's gaze flicked over Lucius, and she buried all but her eyes into the cushion on the couch as a rather forbidden thought came to mind. What the hell is wrong with me?

"More or less, how can I help you..." Lucius sneered. Lucius looked at his watch and then glanced back at Twila who was lounging on a nearby couch. Rumors had been going around about a run in with a Hufflepuff. "I've been told, you have perfected the Imperius Curse..." Lucius daunted.

Aquila raised an eyebrow and snorted quietly. Lucius Malfoy help her? Not in this lifetime. Most of the prefect responsibilities had fallen to her. Lucius mainly seemed to just like deducting house points whenever he felt like it and the social status of course. No if he was groveling to her it wasn’t out of respect. It was for own personal gain.
Both brows shot up in surprise before her expression turned into confusion. That was not what she had been expecting. Of course, he had heard about it. Out of the corner of her eye, she could see Twila who probably had told Lucius about it. “I don’t know what you are talking about,” she stated blankly. “What’s the Imperius curse?”

Frustrated with herself, Twila rose to her feet and sauntered over to Lucius and Aquila, where she stayed silently next to Lucius for a moment. Her expression showed no clue of whether or not she was aware of what they were talking about, but she looked back and forth briefly before fixating her stare on Aquila.
She shifted her arm slightly, and it brushed against Lucius' sleeve. Twila's face went white for a moment, but with the tiniest shake of her head, it seemed as if anyone looking at her had imagined it.

Lucius sniffed pointedly. "I would just watch yourself..." He turned on his heal and glared at Twila for one single second. He felt that Aquila could be a vital role in their operation, yes, she had said no in the past...but from what he understood she had a change of heart. He walked a short distance away to 'pretend' to strike up a conversation with a fellow 6th year, but positioned himself so he could observe Twila and Aquila.

Twila gave Lucius a look through her lashes, not at all missing the glare he gave her. She raised a brow as if to say, "Oh really?" She pulled her hair over her shoulder and looked as if she was checking for split ends. "You're still saying no to him?" She asked quietly, knowing that Lucius was listening.

Aquila watched Lucius stalk off and chuckled lightly to herself. “Boy, he sure can throw a tantrum,” she said loudly for him and others close by to her and was satisfied to hear others snort and giggle under their breath. She closed her book shut and sat up in her seat, peering up at Twila with curiosity. She shrugged at her question. “Actually, I honestly didn’t say much. More or less tell him no to anything since he didn’t ask any intelligent questions of that nature. If he wanted a yes or no response, he should’ve asked something I could’ve said yes or no to.”

"You're playing with fire, Aquila." Twila warned quietly, letting her hand fall to her side. "He may not be the smartest person around here, but you can't keep irritating him. He's not a good person to have against you."
Twila glanced behind her to see Lucius still watching, and she sighed softly. Things were so complicated right now- should she give in to her own curiousity, or should she stay on Lucius' good side herself?

Aquila simply beamed back up at Twila in response. She knew she was playing a dangerous game. But fortunately, she was typically smart enough to know when to quit. She shifted her gaze off of Twila for a brief moment, looking around her to see Lucius. Her grin widened into a final smirk before turning her attention completely onto the fourth year in front of her.
“So what was the point in him coming over if he was simply going to send you?”

"Lucius didn't send me. In fact, I think I put a nice hole in his plans when I came over here. However... I don't want him to scare you off before I have my chance to get what I want." Twila smiled innocently. "You'll be hearing from me very soon, Aquila."

“Plans?” Aquila raised an eyebrow quizzically. But didn’t question any further. “Lucius could hardly scare me off. There is quite possibly almost nothing to frightful about it. Except his unnatural need for pampering. It’s an unusual trait in a male.”

Twila was so caught off guard by Aquila's statement that instead of her usual smirk, she began to laugh. It took her a moment to pull herself back together, but her eyes continued to glow with a hidden warmness that was usually absent. "He's quite the narcissist. He's very much like one of those annoying little dogs that rich muggles like... puffles? Poodles! Yes, he's like a poodle. Yapping, preening..." She hid a smile from Lucius, knowing that only Aquila could hear. "Easily managed, of course- throw him a bone and he's happy letting you run the show."
