"I'm sure forcing him to retire wouldn't be the best thing for them to do. Mostly because if they did, he'd probably just haunt the classroom anyway; at least now he's doing something, somewhat, useful." Unlike several other ghosts who existed for no reason other than to keep the school from performing to its best. Restrooms closed, fireworks going off in the hallways, classroom interruptions.... Although, he used to have the same nightly walking route as the White Lady, and he almost always walked right through her... unfortunatly.
"Patience isn't so much the issue. You just have to find something that you don't want to do more than practice. Or wait until the day before the professor wants you to be able to do it and try and rush through it. Although, that isn't the best way, at least not if you don't want something blowing up in your face," he said. He lifted up his wand and pointed it at the shelves, a large tome flying towards them and landing in front of him with a loud thud.
The book had a word in Goblin on the front. "The thing about boring professors," he said, fipping the book open to about halfway through. The word on the front meant 'battle'. "Is that they rarely change what they do from year to year. Professor Binns covers two Goblin rebellions and somewhat skips over most of the rest, there having been so many. Only one of them ends with a five," he said.
He stopped on a chapter with another Goblin title. It said Invasion in Goblin. "The titles are in Goblin but the chapters are in English, mostly. I think there're one or two in German..." he said, glancing at the pages to make sure the chapter was in English. "This is one of the better ones. From the Wizard perspective of course, but still good enough for the essay."

"True enough, I suppose." Alexis conceded the point with a slight shrug, though she hated to imagine what Binns would do if he took to haunting rather than teaching. A moment's consideration in the matter reminded her he would simply ignore the dismissal and continue right on with his usual structured routine. It didn't do to dwell on that.
Listening to Tirona's explanation on the rarely-changing subjects each Professor taught, she wasn't exactly surprised. Hogwarts had many, many students, and the staff were far less in number. There had to be some way they kept ahead of the game while still teaching their subjects as they should, and as students constantly progressed to a higher year, it wasn't out of the question for them to get away with repeated material. "And I guess I see your point, but we still have to muddle our way through it, repeat or not."
Glancing to the book he held, her eyes simply skipped across the gilded titling - the word was entirely foreign. Reading Goblin wasn't a necessity to studying about them and she didn't fancy the thought of learning the language, so it was a mercy that it would either be written in English or German. "Then I can use that book for it. I really appreciate the advice."

"But that's why I never throw anything away. You never know when someone's going to forget that they assigned you something the previous year. Just write it on a new piece of parchment, and you're done. Although, doesn't always work if you didn't do so well on the first one," he said thoughtfully. Granted he didn't actually need to keep the paper for that, but it helped a little. It made it so he had to think about it less.
He saw her skim over the goblin and straight to the text. Goblin wasn't really the most useful of languages, so he didn't learn a lot of it. Just the titles of the book and some of the basics. Only time it really helped him was when he was Gringotts; he got to find out all the nasty names they called the humans that walked through. Some of them he wasn't a hundred percent sure he wanted to look up.
He nodded as she thanked him for the book. "It's alright. Although, I wouldn't recommend checking that out of the library. It would be a little difficult to lug that thing around," he added. He packed his things and stretched, taking a glance out through the nearest window for a moment. "If you need anymore help try asking a Hufflepuff or checking around here. I'm usually here, but I'm sort of the 'homework help' person for the house..." he said thoughtfully. "Unless you have any questions now?"

"I've never heard of someone doing that, actually.." That was saying a lot when one was a Ravenclaw, as the students of that house tended to be very creative when it came to getting the massive workload they often took on done. "I'd use it for reference purposes. Maybe I need to start that." The statement was more musing than conjecture, and she didn't dwell on it long.
"No, I don't think there's anything else I need to ask now." With the book, she would have a good head start and a chance to get that assignment out of the way, which would free up a lot of her time for a while. "But I'll remember the offer." She smiled a bit.

"Well, I suppose it's useful for that too," he said, mulling it over for a moment. He hadn't really thought about that. He hadn't ever... really... studied. He never needed to, although most people didn't know why. He didn't need to tell everyone that everything he'd ever seen, done, or heard, was burned into his memory forever, not to be washed away... ever. Although, he supposed a memory charm might work, he didn't know though, he'd never thought about it.
He shook his head to stop the domino effect of his thoughts. Happened when you remembered all of them. One thought triggered another one. Which triggered another one. Which triggered another one. It made his brain think a lot, which he supposed was a good thing. On the other hand, it wasn't so much a good thing that he sort of spaced out during the entire experience.
"Alright. Until next time," he said, nodding slightly to her, and then lifted up his bag, heading towards the exit of the library. He didn't particularly have anything better to do really.... Anything at all else to do really. He supposed he'd go get Lit out of his case and go for a walk around the grounds....
