Where the hell am I? Caddie sighed, turning around full circle and looking back at the direction she had come from, then forward, where she had thought the exit to the dungeons was. This is what I get for reading and walking. She rolled her eyes and walked forward again, uncertain. She had been lost for maybe an hour now, not able to find her way forward, and now not able to find her way back to her starting point.
"Hello?" Caddie called, hoping someone was wandering around that could help her. Her stomach growled, reminding her that she was supposed to be in the Great Hall right now, eating lunch.

"Thanks Professor Slughorn! See you tomorrow!" Remus called back into the potions classroom as he slid out the door. The young student was an inner member of the students known as the Slug Club. Though Remus was a little opposed to cliches, he really couldn't object seeing as he was a Marauder. He had just been working on a more advanced version of an Invigoration Draught. As he walked down the corridor he lightly ruffled his robes, making sure he hadn’t spilled anything. His light brown hair was slightly damp from the heat and humidity of the potions chamber. His blue eyes, though naturally bright, gleamed a little unearthly-it would appear his draught had worked well. The left shoulder sauntered a little under the weight of his book bag, which was as usual and the verge of busting open from the amount of books he carried around. He knew lunch was going on upstairs but he was not in the mood to eat with the others. In fact, he was feeling a little daring. Perhaps he would go pester the house-elfs in the kitchen since it was just a ways away.
“Hello?”
The voice was faint but his werewolf blood allowed him to hear it. Cocking his head to the side, he went around the corner, where it had echoed from. Which conviently also took him in the right direction of his destination. He supposed he could do a little investigation before going to eat.
“Hello!” he cheerfully called back followed with a high pitched hiccup that surprised him. Maybe that draught had worked a little too well.

Caddie paused when she heard another voice return her call, and she turned around to face.... him. Remus Lupin. Of course.
Of all the dumb luck. Way to play damsel in distress, Caddie. She offered him a small, almost hesitant smile, hoping to Merlin that her cheeks weren't as red as they felt. She was surprisingly in her uniform today, shoes and all, and she felt completely out of place."Um... hi." She said, her voice wavering. Caddie wanted to kick herself. "I'm sort of... lost." She brushed a strand of her silvery blonde hair behind her ears, looking somewhere to his left. She was trying not to appear like a flustered little girl, as this was the first time she had ever actually spoken to him- though she had been watching him from afar since the second day of her first year. She chanced a glance at him, blinking in surprise. He looked very.... lively was the only word she could come up with. Certainly energetic. Just what had he been doing down here, anyway?
Better yet, where was his entourage? One of the few reasons Caddie had never bothered speaking to him before was his friends. She had seen how they reacted to people they thought less than themselves, and Caddie already had enough people mocking her. She didn't need to add a few more, especially ones that were important to Remus. "I don't suppose you could, uh, help me find my way out?" Caddie definitely blushed this time. She was a Ravenclaw, she was supposed to be smart. Smart didn't include getting lost in the dungeons.

Remus looked at the Ravenclaw girl. He recognized her but had never actually spoken to her. She was pretty, in an unconventional way, not like the little pop star princesses running around who all looked a like. He admired her silvery hair from where he was standing, suspecting she had a little veela blood in her. It would certainly account for all the Ravenclaw boys he’d see mooning after her.
Haha Mooning. Moony, he thought. Before blinking and shaking his head faintly. What the heck is wrong with me? “Hi,” he replied back, a little dumbly followed with another hiccup. “My apologies, my potion seems to have been a little too strong.”
Could he help her out. Well of course. It was the opposite of where he was headed. But oh well. Even slightly intoxicated, he was still a gentleman through and through.
“Sure,” he said with a grin. “Where are you headed?”

Potion? Caddie thought vaguely. It was lunchtime, why would he be down here, making potions? Oh. The Slug Club. Caddie had heard of the Slug Club in passing, but didn't know much about it other than the fact it existed. She didn't know anybody in it, either, but had heard it was supposed to be for the "best of the best," whatever that meant.
She returned his grin as he offered to help, taking a few steps toward him. "I was actually going to get some lunch." She then realized how rude she was and shook her head, blushing all over again. "I'm sorry, I don't know where my manners are. I'm Caddie. You're Remus, of course." She flashed him an impish, triumphant grin- she had finally managed to string together a sentence that was more than just a few words, and all the while in his presence. Well, small successes were successes, nonetheless.

“Haha manners. Do teenage boys know the meaning of the word?” he said with a laugh, thinking of Sirius and James. The idea of them having manners and etiquette was hilarious as well as highly improbable. He held out his hand. “Nice to meet you Caddie. Though apparently, you already know me.”
Lunch? Ah so he wasn’t the only one hungry. He felt like he could eat a zebra, stripes and all. “Well Caddie, I’ll be happy to take you to lunch. But would you like to eat in the Great Hall or take your meal in more interesting places?” He asked with a smile and offering his arm to escort her, hoping she was up for a little adventure. Going to the kitchens, he knew was hardly any great mischeif but the house elves were funny and you could usually get more food than was just offered upstairs, like butterbeer, if they had it. Besides, even if he didn’t want to go upstairs and join the others, it would be nice to have some company.

Caddie grinned, her blue eyes seeming to take on a new depth of brightness, so much so that it was almost like they would glow in the dark, should the lights be extinguished. "Usually not." She agreed, watching him curiously. This was the closest she had ever been to him, and she was determined to remember every detail of the moment. She might never have the oppurtunity again. She took his hand, her own feeling suddenly clammy. "It's hard not to know you."
She blinked at his question. Did he really just ask me to go somewhere with him? Caddie nearly giggled and jumped up in down in excitement, but managed to hold it in to keep from scaring him off. "I would love to, what did you have in mind?" She took his offered arm, unable to keep from grinning. She was actually touching Remus Lupin. It was like she had died and gone the the highest circle of heaven. She stuck her other hand in her pocket, giving herself a sharp pinch. No, this was real.

“It’s hard not to know you.”
He paused for a moment with a look of confusion on his face. No one had ever said that him before. It made him feel…well… kind of wanted. Like someone actually enjoyed his company. He knew Sirius, James, and Peter loved him but it was more like brothers. They definitely didn’t want him around when he was doing something serious or when he was guilting their conscience. Or even when they thought he was just being plain boring.
“Really?” he asked outloud, genuinely surprised, thinking over what she had just said.
He grinned as he took her arm. He noticed she looked slightly faint but assumed it was just because she was hungry. “Well I was heading towards the kitchens. The house elves might have some butter beer or pumpkin pastries as well as whatever they are serving upstairs. Have you ever been in Hogwarts kitchens?” he asked as he began to saunter down the dark dungeon corridor with Caddie at his side. “How does that sound?”

Caddie instantly schooled her face to be perfectly blank at the look at that crossed Remus' face. Way to go too far. She let her gaze fall to the ground, looking slightly abashed.
"Um, yeah." Caddie said uncertainly, coming up with a way to amend her comment so it seemed more neutral, and less like she was a stalker or something to that effect. That was the last thing she wanted him to think about her. "You're sort of well known for your brains, you know." There. That was certainly believable.
Caddie shook her head no at his question, still not looking at Remus directly. She may be feeling rather stupid at that moment, but there was no way in hell she was going to let herself walk away from the oppurtunity to spend extra time with him. Better yet, the oppurtunity to be near him, period. "I haven't, actually, but it sounds fine to me." He could have suggested lunch on the moon, or trying to roast the Giant Squid, and Caddie still would have agreed.

His brains.Well He supposed it was true he had a bit of a reputation. Both for being among the school’s mischeif makers and for never being without a book. It was also true that he generally answered the majority of questions in class. He had never quite thought it as having some kind of well-known status except among Gryffindors. But when she pointed it out, he could see how that would work. Afterall he did have class with other houses and the victims of their pranks were also Ravenclaws, Hufflepuffs, and Slytherins as well.
"Thanks I guess,” he said a little embarassed, his cheeks turning a light pink.
She hadn’t been in the kitchens. Most students hadn’t so he wasn’t surprised but rather excited. “Well you’re in for a treat,” he said smiling at her as they stopped in front of the fruit still life that served as the enterance. With his free hand, he reached up and began to tickle the pear. Which was a bit of an odd sight. To see a student scratching at a painting.

Caddie grinned at his blush. He was just so cute. "You're welcome." She laughed, flashing him the slightest of dimples. "Though you don' t really have me to thank for that- I'm just stating the obvious."
She paused when he stopped at a picture of a fruit bowl, watching as he began to tickle the pear on the picture. There was a time when Caddie would have seen this as highly odd, but that time had passed with her first year. Caddie had seen "strange" things like this aplenty around Hogwarts, and was somewhat immune to them. It wasn't like he was licking the painting, after all. She watched as the pear began to squirm, and then the paiting opened to reveal a doorway. She wondered vaguely how Remus knew just what to do in this instance, but she chalked it up to his mistique- the boy knew everything, it seemed. He was perfect- smart, funny, chivalrous- did he really have any flaws? Caddie shook her head slightly. Now wasn't the time to think about that, because then she'd probably do something stupid out of sheer excitement, like tackle him. No, better to think about other things. Food was good. She liked the coconut cream pies that were served at the special occasion feasts, and the french toast was always amazing. Then there was those little red potatoes at lunch. Lunch. She was having lunch with Remus Lupin! She had been waiting for this moment forever, with his beautiful eyes, and now that she was closer to him, he smelled amazing, too. He was so perfect. Caddie jolted herself out of her circular thoughts and sighed at herself. Oh bother.

“After you,” he said with a grin, helping her up the step and into the corridor. He could smell whatever delicious meals the elves were preparing today. As soon as she was inside, he stepped up himself and the portrait slowly began to close behind him. “Come on.”
The corridor wasn’t terribly long but the light was almost blinding as they stepped into the warm kitchen, bustling with hundreds of house elves. Remus’s eyes dilated as they adjusted to the bright lights as opposed to the poorly lite dungeons. The stretch of the kitchen was huge. Larger than the Great Hall. Thousands of pans simmered and cooked on the stoves. The room was a bit muggy but it was a relief compared to the chilliness of the castle’s lower levels. The elves also were well-clad. Not a single one was dressed in a rag or ill-fitting clothing. They happily chattered as they stirred pots or kneaded dough. In the center of the room where five long tables identical to the ones upstairs and placed directly under their counterparts. Remus pointed.
“That’s where the prepared food goes. Then it apparates onto the tables upstairs.”
A house elf wearing a yellow sun dress, happily approached them. "Good afternoon, Master Remus."
"There's no need to call me 'Master', Twindyl," he said as he bent down to her level, smiling and sitting on one knee.
She just shook her head slightly as she crawled up to sit on his bent knee. "Nevertheless, how can I help you today, Sir?"
"I just thought me and my friend might take lunch in here today. Can you set up a table for us and if you have a house-elf to spare, have them bring us food? If not, I'm sure I can get some myself."
"No, no I will personally bring whatever you wish to eat. Follow me Master Remus, and Master Remus's friend," said the house-elf cheerfully as she leaped of him and Remus stood up and smiled at Caddie. Little Twindyl went between the two students and gently grabbed their pointer fingers with her tiny hands to lead them to the back of the room.

Caddie didn't let go of Remus' hand once she was in the corridor, but her face was completely blank of her intentions by doing so. The smell of food permeated the air, and Caddie stayed close to Remus as he led the way, her small hand still in his. When the small corridor opened up into the kitchens, Caddie's jaw dropped slightly when her eyes adjusted to the brightness. She didn't think she'd ever seen anything quite so big- it was even larger than the Great Hall upstairs. "Wow." She breathed, taking in all the well-dressed house elves and all the shiny cleanness of the kitchen.
She let go of Remus' hand as he addressed a house elf that approached them, and Caddie looked at Twindyl curiously. She had seen house elves before, having grown up in a wizarding home (though she and her mother did not have one,) but Caddie had never spoken to one before. Caddie couldn't help but smile as she watched Remus with the little elf- if she had ever had any doubt that he was anything but sweet and chivalrous, it was completely gone now.
She let the little elf take her finger and followed her to the table, still looking around her in amazement. "I've never seen anything like this before." She took one of the seats that the house elf led them to, smiling at her. "Thank you."

A circular table was in the back corner of the kitchen a little away from the hustle and bustle. Caddie sat down and Remus followed suit, sitting across from her. “Thank you,” the Ravenclaw said to the house-elf. Which pleasantly surprised Remus. Most people weren’t necessarily mean to house-elves. They just kind of ignored them and told them what to do. Twindyl was a bit of a friend to Remus though. She was one of the head elfs and had always been the one to aide him or the other marauders when they had taken a visit to the kitchen. Though of couse, she was subordinate by nature, he had found in their excursions Twindyl was a little more bold and had more of personality than the other elves. She seemed more like a human to him at times and therefore, he had a hard time thinking of the little elf as a slave to fulfill his every wish. Besides, a good portion of the house elves here were freed and looking for work.
The house-elf curtsied, holding her dress out to the sides as she did so like some great lady. “You’re most welcome, miss. Now what can I get for you today? Butterbeer? Tripe? Yorkshire Pudding? Steak? You need only to ask.”
Remus nodded at Caddie with a friendly smile. “You go first.”

Caddie couldn't help but grin as she watched the elf curtsy to her- she was just too cute! "Actually, if it's not too much trouble, butterbeer and steak sound really good." She glanced over at Remus before looking away again, hiding a giddy smile. She would give anything to know what he was thinking right then. Then she wouldn't have so many questions, such as how she was supposed to be acting right then. For all she knew, her giddiness could be making him think she was crazy, like Xenophilius. Better calm down. She told herself, but it didn't help. She felt like a tightly coiled spring, ready to bounce off the walls with her good fortune.
She waited until Remus ordered and the house elf scurried away before she looked back at Remus, this time holding his gaze. "So..." She said slowly, her tongue feeling like it was thicker than usual. It wasn't fair that he had this sort of control over her. "Done anything interesting lately?" Good job. She thought sarcastically. Now you sound like a drug addict, and an idiot, to boot. Well, there was no spell that Caddie knew that could rewind time, so she gave up chastising herself.
