“I don’t mind if you tackle me again,” he muttered shyly, peeking up at Caddie. “And I am happy if you’re happy.” He watched her and was taken aback by what she said. Another reason why he liked her. She was so selfless and kind. From what he had seen, there was not an ounce of selfishness in her. It worried him a little, he realized. He worried that people would try to take advantage of her. As usual, he watched her hair with fascination as she tossed it over her shoulder, resisting the urge not to reach out and touch. “But you are beautiful.” His voice sounded slightly dazed as if he was not quite all there. “I know it’s probably a little early but Caddie will you go with me to the Masquerade Ball next month?”

Caddie smirked, joking, "I'll remember that." She did restrain herself, however, from doing just that. Remus would learn quickly she was rather exuberant; better to not scare him when their relationship was not even an hour old.
She blushed at his compliment, shaking her head slightly. "I... " It would be callous to deny a compliment, so instead she just said, "Thank you. Obviously you know how handsome and brilliant I think you are."
She satisfied her urge to hug him again by simply taking his hand as he invited her to the masquerade. If her day had any chance of getting even better, he had just made it happen. "Of course I will!"

He smiled as she complimented him in return. It was nice that she appreciated him he supposed. Unlike James, he probably wouldn’t have to do Caddie’s homework in order for her to recognize him. Though a little surprised as she took his hand, he curled his fingers around hers. He made sure not to grip too tightly but also held on a little, just so he didn’t seem like some dead beat who didn’t want to hold her hand. He was became a bit panicked again as she said yes to go with him. It was the first time he officially asked a girl on a date. Though he was now greatly anticipating the ball, he became nervous that he might ruin the evening or step on her feet. “Great! Just a warning though, I’m not the greatest dancer. I apologize in advanced.”

Caddie leaned back against the cool glass, still keeping her hand in Remus'. She shook her head in dismissal at his apology, offering him a cheerful smile. "Don't worry about it. I'm not the best dancer either, but I might be able to lead, should the occasion arise. If not, well, we'll enjoy the food and each other's company."
The invite did open a whole new can of worms, however- she had no idea what she was going to wear. She would have to find something that would be just right.... "Any idea what you're going as?" She asked curiously.

Mirroring Caddie, Remus also leaned back after a few seconds subconsciously. He laughed cheerfully. “Alright deal. Just don’t tell anyone how pathetic I am,” he said with a smile. His face furrowed for a moment at her question. He knew the ball was for Halloween. However, he hadn’t had decided at all what to go as. “I’m not sure…I hadn’t given it much thought yet to be honest…Maybe as a wolf…” Since, technically, no matter what he would be wearing he would be going as a wolf.

"I'm sure you're exaggerating. You can't be that horrible."
She looked up curiously at his comment, tilting her head slightly. "Why a wolf?" It was sort of an odd comment, compared to what she had already heard from other students- one was going as Merlin, another as a Quidditch player, things of that sort.... not a wolf. She thought about things that could possibly go with a wolf. Another wolf? A werewolf? Nah. A fox? Definitely not. Then it came to her, and she smiled. The idea was perfect, and wouldn't be hard to put together in a short amount of time.

Remus stopped for a moment hesitating as he scrabbled for words. “Well for one it’s my favorite animal,” he said lamely. “Fast, strong, loyal.” Lonely, he added on. “If you want I’ll go as something else to match whatever you’d like to go as. I wouldn’t mind.”

Caddie didn't seem to even notice that he was less than forthcoming with the answer, and she shook her head, giving him a mischevious smile. "Don't change it. I know what would go perfectly with that." Besides, she added mentally, I'm hardly the type of girlfriend that would tell you what to do.
She sighed happily, lacing her fingers through his. "I can't wait for the ball... it's going to be amazing."

“Can I know or is it a surprise?” he asked curiously. Timidly, he gently caressed her fingers with his thumb. “Yes it will. But anything will be amazing if you’re there.”

"It's a surprise. I want to see if you can tell me apart from all the other blondes when I'm in costume. I don't think you can." She smirked, only partially joking. Granted, she didn't know that he had more of an advantage with his heightened sense of smell.
Her smile brightened, clearly encouraging such acts of affection. "You make me sound so much more interesting and exotic than I really am." Caddie laughed softly.

Remus smiled to himself. "Oh I think you're wrong. I am sure I can."
He looked down at her. "I don't think so. And I never exaggerate. Besides everyone thinks their own life is boring."

"We shall see, won't we?" Caddie smiled at him, already excited to see how that night would go.
"Oh I don't think, Remus- I know my life is boring." She smirked suddenly. Why not spice things up, then? She leaned forward and kissed Remus experimentally on the lips, the way she had wanted to for a long, long time.
