Arabella sat in the Hufflepuff common room doing absolutely nothing. She had been studying all day. She was tired but not tired enough to go to sleep. She needed someone to talk to, so Arabella sat in the large arm chair and waited.

Juggling the idea of going out to escape from the current stress that was his homework, Devon glanced idly towards the doorway. All the other boys that shared his dorm room were out doing their own things, so he was alone and able to get away with a bit more outside of the nagging of his friends. Rolling up the parchment he'd been writing the very frustrating essay out on, he had enough sense to put the stopper in the inkwell before putting it and the quill aside, grabbing a thin jacket to slip on over his t-shirt.
Throwing it over his shoulder, he slipped out of the circular doorway - rather like what one would find in a Hobbit hole - and walked down the lit passage that led to the common room, coming out there to find that there was a very..bored looking girl sitting in one of the stereotypical oversized armchairs. "Slow day for everything, isn't it?" He remarked idly, changing his mind for the time being. He hated seeing anyone bored, even if he didn't know the person.

When Parker entered the common room he suddenly felt bored. Not one person was doing anything of consequence, at that moment anyways. Parker decided to go talk to the two people talking, whom he recognized as a fellow Fifth year, Arabella, and a Fourth year, Devon. "Slow day for everything, isn't it?" Parker heard Devon say.
"I agree; you think a school this large, we could find something to do." Parker sighed sinking into an armchair next too them.

Arabella smiled. "I know. It's hard though when everyone goes off into their own little cliqs." Arabella sighed. "No one to hang with, you know?" she added.

"Cliques are overrated." Parker said twirling a quill around his fingers. He grinned at Arabella, "Too bad there isn't a Hogesmeade visit this weekend."

Arabella groaned and threw her head back. "I know! Gah! Infuriating isn't it?" she added. Parker was genuinely interested in what she had to say.

"If there was a trip, there'd be a lot less boredom to face." Sinking into one of the remaining armchairs, Devon leaned back and stared up at the ceiling, looking for patterns as he often found there - especially when he was bored. "But there's not, so we're forced to face the drudgery of staying cooped up in this castle." He sighed in a bit of a dramatic fashion, mimicking a lot of the girls he'd known over the years..all in joking, of course.

Parker chuckled and leaned back in the armchair. "The other thing to do is homework..." Parker sighed at the thought, "Their really piling it on this year aren't they?"

"I know. It's so stupid. You think they'd lay off just a bit as we got older because we have more pressures, but no, they make it harder. Not wise in my book." she smiled. Arabella leaned forward. "I've heard too much schoolwork can cause suicidal events." she winked. She was kidding of course.

"I think I'd be demanding a re-Sorting if I heard of someone in this house getting suddenly suicidal over their piled-up homework." Devon chuckled at that thought, as most of his in-House friends tended to procrastinate more than normal people might. "Depending on the method and for their sake, of course. Might not thank me, but at least there wouldn't be some potential moral mess to clean up."

Parker chuckled. "Ah, well, its a good thing that we are not Ravenclaws... I bet loads of suicidal thoughts are happening over there!" Parker said. It was true that Hufflepuffs were considered the bottom of the food chain at Hogwarts, but maybe that meant less stress. He didn't really care though, they all got the same education, who really cares what House they were in 20 years from now.

Arabella laughed. "I know. Poor things." she said shaking her head. "I bet it's just SO lively in their common room."

"Probably more productive..." Parker sighed, still wishing that Hogesmeade had been open this weekend.

Arabella folded her arms. "We need to find something to do tomorrow." she mused.

"Definitely... Parker said. "I'm actually looking forward to classes, I want to stay busy. Plus Quidditch training and all that..."
