“School pride? That was pulled out of thin air.” he said in confusion. He shook his head. “Well I don’t play Quidditch either and you still keep me around.”
Remus just rolled his eyes in response, not even bothering to answer Sirius’s question. Sirius and Lily’s little rivalry was ridiculously based anyway. Anything Remus could possibly say about Lily would somehow be twisted into something negative in his friend’s mind.
Remus’s blushed deepened into crimson. He knew that he was going to be humiliated for answering this. “Well I just kissed her. I didn’t like…make-out with her…or anything like that.”

"Yes, I do, but you can hardly say I want to snog you, mate." Sirius said dryly, raising a brow. "Girls like to snog blokes that have proved their, er, blokiness. Since the gladiators are all gone and whatnot, that means Quidditch."
Lily Evans was completely blocked out of his mind at Remus' next comment. It didn't seem like Sirius' eyes could get bigger- for the first time in his life, Remus had actually stunned Sirius into silence, at least for a moment. "Just so I get this perfectly straight- who are we talking about? Your blonde stalker? When? Why? Well, I know why, but why didn't you snog her?"

Remus’s eyebrows folded together and he blinked twice in confusion. “Uh Sirius, as far as I can tell, that statement has no relation to whether or not Caddie plays Quidditch. I’m sure she wouldn’t not appreciate have any kind of ‘blokiness’ about her being a girl and all that.”
Remus shook his head, dismayed. “Not Caddie. I wouldn’t kiss her. I’ve barely met her. That’s taking advantage…of…of her femininity.” He sighed before quickly responding to Sirius’s questions. “A girl in my neighborhood. Over this last summer. I was scared.”

Sirius rolled his eyes at Remus' incessant need to always correct people. If everyone was so bloody proper all the time, all the fun would be taken out of life. "You just proved my point exactly, mate- I wasn't even talking about her. I was talking about you and your lack of blokiness."
"Why didn't you tell us about this mysterious 'at-home' girl? Could it be because she doesn't exist?" Sirius was still staring at Remus as if he was the only thing in the world. In truth, Sirius found him fascinating and incomprehensible. "Why won't you kiss the ravenclaw blondie?" He asked curiously. "Is she really a bloke? 'Cause that would explain a lot of things about you." Sirius didn't say it to be mean, he just didn't understand how anyone could prefer reading to Quidditch, or how anyone could not have a different girlfriend every week. That is, unless they were gay. That would explain the lack of female companionship.

Remus completely stopped and looked at Sirius, blinking in both annoyance and confusion. "My lack of blokiness?"
Remus's face grew hard and he grined his teeth a little bit. "She does exist. She's a muggle. And she comes over to my house sometimes during the summer." He sighed wondering why he even bothered. Sirius wouldn't get it anyways. "I won't kiss Caddie because...I don't know. It's hard to explain Padfoot. And no, she is definitely male Sirius thank you very much."

"Are you deaf? Yes, your lack of blokiness." Sirius shook his head at Remus. Why didn't he understand? Oh yeah, because he never understood anything of importance. Like Quidditch. He did a bang up job at homework, though.
"I don't think she does." Sirius countered, impatiently shoving his bangs out of his blue eyes. "Wait, a muggle?" Sirius stared at Remus like he had grown a second head or something. "Why on earth would you kiss a muggle?" Sirius didn't believe in the whole pure blood mania that his family spouted, but he didn't think he'd date a muggle, either. Not because they were inferior, but because muggles couldn't understand Quidditch. Anybody who couldn't understand Quidditch was not worth bothering with.
'And I think you should try explaining- isn't that what you're always prattling to James and I about?"

Remus didn’t say anything in response. He was a little stung by what Sirius said but he did his best not to show it and just shake it off. Like any male, he was deeply offended that his manhood was being turned into a joke. Sirius thought anything besides basic emotions were ridiculous and would probably only ridicule him further if he knew what was going on in Remy’s head. So he did the natural boy thing-he got mad.
“Because not all of us are pure-blood brats Sirius,” he snapped. “She is a really pretty, really fun muggle girl who lives next door to my family because believe it or not, regular people live in London too. And seeing as how you usually are with James for most of the summer, what do you think I do when you two aren't around? Sit on my couch, waiting for a letter from you guys inviting me some place. I actually do like to enjoy my summer breaks.” He glared at his best friend becoming verbally violent, his words erupting from her lips with aggression and articulation as if he wanted to make sure what he was saying was perfectly clear. “I’m not going to snog Caddie. Period, ok? I don’t think she even likes me in that way. It wouldn’t be good for her either. I don’t want her to know about…well…you know. My little problem. And it could be dangerous for her. It just wouldn’t be good to get her involved or get too close. And if I snog her, it means commitment. Maybe not to you but to most people it does. I don’t want to hurt her because I actually really…really like her. ”

((the new Caddie/Remus thread is on the 5th floor))
Sirius looked only mildly surprised that Remus was getting irritable. Remus never got irritable. Siri must have hit a nerve.
Or Remus was in denial. Sirius liked the second idea better, as it spared him of feeling bad, something that Sirius carried off awkwardly on the occasions that he bothered with feeling bad at all. "Don't get your knickers in a twist, Moony. I don't care that you have a muggle friend, I just want to know why in bloody hell you'd want to snog her? If she exists, that is." Sirius gave Remus a stung look, much like the confusion a dog exhibits when smacked on the nose with a newspaper. "You know very well that we used to invite you all the time, and you always turn us down because of your furry little problem. You can't blame us for sparing the parchment on an answer we already know."
"Methinks you doth protest too much. Besides, if you 'really, really liked her' as you claim, you'd keep her obsessively close, like you do with everything else you really really like- such as the endless supply of chocolate, or all the books you carry every day. You do realize that you can be yourself around us, mate, we won't ostracize you should you find James or, uh, myself to be more than just your mate, you know. I can't say we'd return that particular affection, but, uh, we'd support you.' Sirius nodded but looked a little alarmed at the idea of Remus hitting on him.

Remus felt a small amount of remorse for his outburst. But at the same time, he also knew Siri’s little puppy face was probably a feint. In a calmer tone he added, “Only once a month on account of my furry problem.”
If Remus had heard the last few sentences of Sirius’s monologue, he probably would’ve smacked him. However, he got caught in the first part, the second he only had a vague idea of what Padfoot was implying. “You’re right Sirius,” he said. “I should be closer to her. It’s not quite the same thing as books and chocolate because they aren’t people. You can’t really hurt them. You can damage them but they won’t feel it. But you’re right. I should be taking care of her like my books, not ignoring her.”

"Well, I can't help it that while your furry little problem makes you go all furry, the full moon tends to lend us spontaneous bursts of creativity. You can't help timing, my friend." Sirius stated reasonably.
"Er, what?" Sirius stared at Remus for a minute, horrified at what he was suggesting. That wasn't at all what he had been saying! At least, he didn't think so. Usually if one beat Remus over the head with something, he became stubborn and wouldn't budge, which is what Sirius had been hoping for with his little speech. However, it seemed to have done the opposite today, inspiring Remus to hop to. This couldn't be good. "No no, what are you doing? This is a very bad idea!"

Remus was completely oblivious to whatever his fellow Marauder was going on about. He had no idea of what he was saying like he couldn't head him. “I should go to her and just tell her.” He turned to Sirius with a huge grin on his face. “Sirius, you’re a genius.” And with that, he leaned over his broom and took off across the pitch, heading towards the practice field where flying lessons where held so he could as close and as fast to the castle as possible.
